used in making handwritten books, is invited to
Hebdów, where we will turn the cool chambers of the
former Norbertine monastery into a huge scriptorium.
The acknowledged tutors will teach small groups of
aspiring calligraphers and illuminators, beginners as
well as advanced learners. Over a week the
participants will have the opportunity to take part in
30 hours of lectures, workshops and demonstrations,
which will culminate in a final project. The first week
will end with a vernissage on the 17th of July, and the
climax of the Summer School will be the final
exhibition on the 24th of July 2020.

Enrollment will be processed on first-come-first-served basis and confirmed with payment in full.
No refund or transfer of fees after the enrollment is confirmed.
If you are unable to attend the workshop, you may find a replacement to attend on your behalf
There will be no make-up lessons for workshops.
Program content may be subject to minor variations without further notice.
In an event of Acts of God, relating to natural disasters, flash floods, earthquakes, typhoon or provisions outside human control, workshops will be canceled and will not be re-scheduled or refunded.
Photographs and videos taken during workshops may be used for training and promotional purposes. If you do not consent to the use of these materials, please inform us in writing. Otherwise, it shall be deemed as an act of content.By signing up for our workshops or events, it shall be deemed as an act of consent.

I am 35 years old, married with 1 baby girl. I have a Degree in Communication Arts and I graduated from the National University of Singapore. I am currently an Account Director in a MNC Agency. My hobbies are photography & rock climbing.

I have attended workshops conducted by Michael Sull (Spencerian), Eleanor Winters in Copperplate and Broad Edge Calligraphy with Tri Shiba. I have been practising Calligraphy both pointed pen and broad nib for 5 years.

I hope to acquire more knowledge, skills and techniques from European artists. I am especially keen on Illumination and Gestural Calligraphy.

I would like to do a short presentation on Chinese Character and Writing. How the Chinese words evolve over centuries from pictorial to today's simplified version. My presentation will be about 30 minutes long. I will require a white board and markers in 4 colours.

However, upon signup the first instalment will be due. Subsequent payment will be due to be paid, before the 8th of the following month.
Can I get a refund if I’m unable to join the course?
Once registered, there will be no refund for those who wish to withdraw their participation. However, you can transfer your seat to someone else. Please EMAIL and inform us in advanced. Do note that ToolArt reserve the rights to amend, postpone or cancel (full refund) this course with prior notice to all participants.
Can I get refund if the class I registered is cancel?
We reserves the right to cancel a class 30 days prior to the start of the course, if the minimum number of students has not been met for class commencement. We will notify the registrants if there is a need to cancel and a full refund will be paid. Should a tutor cancel, ToolArt will run the class with an equivalent calibre tutor. We do not issue refunds nor be held responsible for airline tickets, accommodation or personal expenses.
Can I transfer to other class after registration?
Yes, if seat for other courses are still available. Registrants are allow to switch their enrolment to another course, however please EMAIL us a month in advance.
If I am unable to attend a course for personal reason, can my friend take my place instead?
Yes, you can transfer your seat to someone else. Please EMAIL and inform us in advance.

Do I have to bring my own material?
You don’t need to bring any materials with you. However, you may want to bring your own favourite writing materials. We provide ink, paper as well as penholders with nibs.
Is it possible to purchase calligraphy products during the Summer School Course?
Yes, if you would like to buy any new calligraphy products, there is a calligraphy merchandise booth onsite. Please note that payment is strictly COD (cash on delivery).

When do we start and when do we finish?
Generally, we gather on Sunday and leave on Saturday after breakfast. The course is from Monday to Friday. You should arrive at Hebdów by Sunday.

We recommend main city - Warsaw Chopin Airport. It is an international airport located in the Włochy district of Warsaw, Poland.

DRESS CODE
What should I wear to the class?
Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. During the summer months (June to August), the average temperatures is 25 degrees Celsius.

Must I be present for all daily classes?
We expect participants to attend the entire class as scheduled. Late arrivals and early departures are disruptive for both the tutor and the other students. Please make every effort to participate fully in your class. Course adjustments will not be made for late arrivals or early departures.

Besides money changer located at airport and train station, you may withdraw cash at most ATM machines. Make sure that your card is activated and accepted for international use.
